HISTORY
Anderson’s Alternatives, founded by Nathan Anderson, is a growing eco-lumber business based in Albion, California. We provide green/ecological lumber by salvaging and recycling logs, and reusing lumber from barns and houses.
Nathan recovers logs from local rivers and the Pacific Ocean. Throughout winter rivers become bloated with excess rainwater and start to flood. The deluge sets free logs that have been stuck in places that are not accessible. The old growth and second growth logs float downstream, bound for the sea, and Nathan is able to impede their journey with a small boat and some rope. The lumber that is retrieved from the waterway is of superior quality.
Anderson’s Alternatives is working diligently to provide choices in the lumber industry. Our building materials are obtained locally without harming precious resources and wildlife. We keep a range of building materials in stock; from small lumber to large beams. Nathan is also able to deliver in his 18’ flatbed truck powered by biodiesel!
VISIONS AND GOALS
Anderson’s Alternatives has been working towards the establishment of a local Eco-Lumber Co-op. The projected plan is to provide high quality lumber on a large scale by combining the resources of other eco-friendly companies. Anderson’s Alternatives would also like to start its own retail store for alternative lumber, sustainable bamboo flooring and other eco-friendly supplies in the future.
